At the end of a job interview, the Human Resources Development Manager asked a fresh young Engineer who was just out of college about what starting salary was he expecting from them.
The Engineer replied that he was contemplating something in the neighborhood of $150,000 a year, and of course this depended on the benefits package.
In reply to which, the interviewer proposed a benefits package and asked the Engineer for his opinion. The benefits package included a package of 5 weeks vacation, 14 paid holidays, full medical and dental insurance, company matching retirement fund to 50% of salary, and a company car leased every 2 years - say, a red Lexus !
The Engineer who couldn’t believe what he had just heard, sat up straight and said, "Wow! Are you kidding?"
The interviewer replied, "Yeah, but you started it."
